Introduce yourself! What do you do? I’m all over the place doing things I love: A community organizer with 1 Million Cups and other events throughout the year, a tech startup mentor at the Missouri Innovation Center, a product creator currently Head of Product at Testery.io. I also have a hobby project at Sk8Plan.com which is an app for figure skating coaches.
How did you get involved with #SWCOMO? It’s been several years ago, but I’m sure I first heard about it from Collin Bunch at REDI. Like many people in Mid-Missouri, most of my entrepreneurial journey started with Collin.
What is your involvement this year? I’m a mentor again this year, which is a great way to get involved without working late into the night. At the MIC we have funding for tech startups, and often those relationships start here. For example, we’ve had tons of fun working with last year’s SWCOMO winner House Collars.
As a mentor, what do you gain from SW? Entrepreneurship has had such a positive impact on my quality of life that I want to help others give it a shot. Plus, helping others can help you learn and grow in ways that you just can’t on your own.
What are you most excited about for this upcoming Startup Weekend? I can’t wait to see what crazy, impossible sounding idea turns out to be something totally legit. The one that goes from “What they heck are they thinking?” to “I wish I had thought of that!” — all in just 54 hours.
